I love this fellow too much to let him go. So here's another clue: Not a nick name.
Nobody gets this crownie because nobody had a clue even after three stunningly lateral clues. Sorry Nick, these people do not deserve you.

a) Autism - His son Danny is autistic.
b) Sport - One of his frequent subjects. He has written Fever Pitch which is about his support for Arsenal and also published couple of sport anthologies.
c) Music - He also writes a lot about music including music reviews for New Yorker and a collection of essays on popular songs.
I never would have got this without the additional clue.
